Easy Habits for Healthy Hair

Is your hair starting to break and fall out? If so, you probably want to end that as soon as possible. Give the tips below a try to keep your hair healthy, shiny and in your head.

If you like to pour the salt on your meals or eat food that are high in sodium it is time to cut back. Too much salt in your diet causes high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. This can prevent a healthy flow of blood from reaching your scalp. This causes hair loss. Try other spices to flavor your food and put the salt away.

Stop smoking. Causing hair loss is the least of your worries if you are a smoker. It is hazardous to your whole body. Quit smoking by cutting back slowly, even if you end up smoking much less it is still an improvement.

Do not shampoo you hair everyday. This can end up drying out your scalp and putting too much stress on your hair. Wash your hair a few times a week or every other day, and wear a shower cap when you shower the other days. You will notice less breaking, falling strands and less fly aways.

Massage your scalp daily to encourage hair growth. Massaging your scalp can help increase the blood flow to your scalp, and this promotes healthy hair growth. You can use your hand to massage your scalp, ask a partner to do it or use a vibrating massager on your scalp.

Avoid stressful places and situations. Stress is one of the most common causes of hair loss and it can be easily avoid. Avoid what you can, and learn some stress coping techniques to reduce the stress you have to deal with. Exercise, buy a stress ball or play a game to reduce stress when you feel like you have had enough.

Eat a nutritional diet. Protein, iron and many vitamins are essential for healthy hair growth. Eat a healthy, well balanced diet to make sure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to do it’s job and stay healthy.

Exercise regularly. Carrying around too much weight can cause a number of complications that will cause hair loss or make it worse. Keep you body in healthy shape and you your hair and scalp will thank you for it.

Shower right after you leave chlorinated water or lake water. Chlorine will damage you hair over time, especially if left on your hair. As soon as possible after leaving a pool or lake, you should take a shower and wash your hair with a gentle shampoo to rinse out any chlorine or pollutants.

Avoid standing in direct sunlight with out a hat on. Your scalp can get sunburned pretty easily, even if you do not notice it. Wear a hat on sunny days to prevent any damage to your scalp.
